Fish and brain power
The Fish and Quiz night held at Kellys of East Looe, and organised by the Friends of Looe Primary School for funds was an entertaining and fun event attended by about 50 people. The fish and chip supper was donated by Peter and Tina Roberts.
Winners were the Bray Team who are to receive quiz books and the wooden spooners were Rose Arbour. Hardworking compere Neil Mottershead was presented with a gift by Friends' chair person Penny Sykes who also thanked everyone for their support.
Shipmates hold annual meeting
The annual general meeting of the Looe Branch of the Royal Naval Association recently took place at the Social Club, West Looe, followed by the normal monthly get together when members enjoyed a game of bingo.
Officers elected were: Chairman Harry Elcock, vice chairman Ralph Harrison, secretary Wally Kingaby, treasurer Bob Jones, welfare Patsy Ough, public relations Joan Field, social secretary Pam Butler.
The next meeting will take place in the same venue on Wednesday, March 8 at 8pm.
Cabin Club helps school
On the same evening as the Fish and Quiz night, Stuart Fisher from J Arthur (Cabin Club) offered half price membership and 22 people joined at £1 each. The Cabin then donated £44 to primary school funds.
Rowing Draw
Winners of the February 100 Club draw organised by Looe Rowing Club were Miss E Pendjiky (70), Pauline Tamlin (51) and Ron Tamlin (73).
Combined services open day
Ron Overd of Looe branch Royal British Legion would like to remind everyone of the Combined Services Open Day to be held in the Guildhall tomorrow (Saturday) February 26 from 10am-3pm.
Joining the RBL will be Looe RNA, South East Cornwall RAFA, Cornwall Branch of the Royal Engineers Association and S E Cornwall Burma Star. There will be a small military exhibition and someone on hand to answer questions on war and service pensions.
There will be coffee and entertainment by Jack Dingle on keyboards and the Looe Entertainers.
Toc H party time
All senior citizens in Looe wishing to go to the annual party organised by Looe Toc H and to be held at The Portbyhan Hotel on Saturday, March 18, are asked to give their names to any Toc H member by Friday, March 3.
