LOLLIPOP men and women are urgently needed in Liskeard and Looe but so far attempts to recruit people for the three positions available have not met with any response, despite extensive campaigning by Cornwall Council's Road Safety Unit. Children walking to and from schools in Liskeard at the busy Barclays Bank crossing on The Parade, and in Dean Street, need the added safety of a crossing patrol, as do the children at Looe Primary school, who have been without such help for a long time. With pay in the region of £158 per month at Looe, and £167 in Liskeard, rising to £182 at the Barclays Bank crossing, Road Safety Officer Joan Mallard was hoping for more response. Uniforms are provided. Call Joan on 01872 327886.
