Proper prizes for pupils

THE Proper Cornish company of Bodmin have been helping some Liskeard School GCSE students with their food technology course. Last September they visited the factory for a tour and to learn about large scale food production, and how to develop a new product. The students were then set design briefs and they were recently visited at school by Dave Read, (personnel and training), and Julie Moran, (product development), to see how they had progressed. Pictured above with them are students Hayley Whittaker, Paul Hooper, Jo Parry and Emma Arnold who were presented with prizes for their original product ideas for packed lunches and vegetarian cook chill food. Their ideas will now be submitted as part of their design portfolios for their GCSE qualifications.

Student Lisa set to study

culture in Honduras

DOBWALLS student Lisa Mills, currently studying for a BA (Hons) Degree in Social Anthropology and Journalism at the University of Lincoln, is aiming to undergo an exploration into Lenca culture in Honduras. She is in her second year of studies and in the process of planning her dissertation.

While in Lenca her aim is to produce a real anthropological, ethnographic account of the culture, and hopes to achieve this during three months of working in Honduras this summer.

Lisa will be part of an I-to-I venture that works in partnership with Save The Children, and will spend one month on a building project where homes, churches and schools will be built. Her individual research will take place on a daily basis.

Lisa's placement is expensive at £2,300 and she would be grateful to receive any help from any individual or local organisation who would be interested in her venture. She can be contacted on 07974714729 or at Valle Vista, Dobwalls, Liskeard, PL14 6JF
