AT Liskeard's newly-completed museum in the refurbished Foresters Hall, town mayor Tony Powell and town clerk Brenda Furse admire one of the exhibitions - an early poster advertising the Borough of Liskeard Markets and Fairs and a tariff of prices. Also pictured are project surveyor Bernard Wooster and David Ambler. Mr Ambler is responsible for the external lettering on the museum and also intends to build a model of the beam engine which was used in Vennings Brewery in the town, around l00 years ago. Guitar for
the adults
ANTHONY Rose, a Gunnislake-based guitar teacher and folk singer, is presenting two courses on playing the guitar for the Caradon Adult Education Centre in Liskeard.
The beginners course takes the student through stages from simply holding the guitar to accompanying songs using seemingly complex playing styles. The second course builds on the techniques and skills acquired during the beginners course and develops these further to enhance the knowledge of the guitarist.
The courses are running at Liskeard School.
CARADON council's senior housing officer Russell Hale (left) is pictured with Francis Bassett of the Lake Lane Estate Tenants and Residents Forum. The forum held an exhibition and discussion centre in the Scout headquarters at Castle Park to talk about parking problems in the estate. It is thought proposals outlining a solution to the problems may well be drawn up by next month. County councillor Mike Gillbard said residents and Caradon and Cornwall councils are working together to find solutions. One answer, apparently, could be converting green spaces on the estate into parking areas. However, responses to a questionnaire on the matter would be analysed as part of the proposals.
