They say they have no connection or interest with the applicants, or the company, the proposal having been put forward by Mr Stocke of Stocke Enterprises Ltd.

Second houses

meeting arranged

FOLLOWING a meeting held earlier this month to discuss proposed housing developments in Liskeard's Lamellion/Lodge Hill area a further meeting has been arranged - with the main purpose of forming a residents' association.

The meeting is to take place on March 26 at 7.30pm in the Long Room of the Public Hall. The aim is to identify a group or groups of people prepared to work on letter writing, environmental issues, and general publicity, as well as a co-ordinating committee. Letters have been sent to people who have shown an interest in becoming involved in such a way.

One of the organisers of the well-attended initial meeting, to outline the scale of new housing proposed for Liskeard under the local plan, was Anne Sandercock. She said: 'It is good to know there is a very good level of support, and I am sure we can build on this to challenge, fundamentally, these proposals which will ruin both our immediate area and our town.'

Civic parade

given set date

LISKEARD town councillors have decided they will hold the town's Civic Parade on the third Sunday in June every year.

This year they were asked by the Royal British Legion if they would change the parade to either the first or third week in June so the Legion can attend its first every county rally. The third Sunday was chosen.

At their monthly meeting on Tuesday members decided that it would help local organisations if the event was given a set annual date. Mayor elect, Tony Powell, said this year the civic service would be in St Martin's parish church.

Ivor Grove, Caradon's principal housing officer with responsibility for tenant participation and community involvement, said: 'This project has been taken forward through the council's tenant participation structures and allows us to target our resources to the areas where need is greatest. The local residents' group has carried out extensive consultation and supported by our construction and property section has drawn up plans which have been agreed by all.'

Brian Gilbert, Association secretary, said: 'Although the process has taken a long while to bear fruit, it has been worth it to get exactly what everyone wanted.'
