THE next monthly meeting of Liskeard town council will be held in the Public Hall on April 17 at 7.30pm.
Easter fun
at the library
LISKEARD library promises a morning of Easter fun and frolics for children on Thursday April 19.
Staff in the library will be staging a morning of activities and stories for five to ten-year-olds from l0.30am until noon. Tickets, priced at 50p, are obtainable in advance from Liskeard library.
Library manager, Sue Benjamin-Fast, said numbers for the event were limited, and previous events had proved very popular. The library's regular 2pm Thursday story-time will run as usual.
Swiming for
the farmers
A SPONSORED swim was held for Green Wellie Day and was organised by Derek Jones in which his wife, Criss, daughter Allison and granddaughter Penny took part. They were accompanied by Sam Pascoe and Becki and Katy Trinder.
A total of £406 was raised by the swim and thanks were given to Colin Bolitho, manger of Mole Valley Farmers in Liskeard for allowing collection of sponsors to take place at the disinfectant bay where a value of £196 was raised - and Millendreath Holiday Camp who allowed the swim to take place there on March 31.
Sale for
the cats
CALLINGTON Cats Protection are holding a sale at Liskeard Long Room tomorrow (Saturday) April 7 from 9am until 1pm.
There will be a variety of stalls including Cats Protection new goods, bric-a-brac, books and crafts. There is free entry but donations of cat food are welcome. The next Long Room sales are on Saturday May 5 and June 2.

Charity appeal
for volunteers
THE charity Mencap urgently needs volunteers in the Liskeard area to help out at the town's Gateway club which is held on Monday evenings.
The volunteers would be enabling people with learning disabilities to take part in leisure and recreational activities.
Qualities required are said to be enthusiasm, a good sense of humour and respect for people as individuals. Training and support will be provided. For more information telephone Doreen Fursman on 01579 340802.
