IT was a truly blue afternoon in Looe Bay, with a fresh south-westerly wind, blue skies, blue sea, the blue sails of the Enterprise fleet... , but the bluest of all was the air!
Race officer Brian Carvey had to recall half of the Enterprise field due to a starting line infringement, much to the crews' annoyance, but the 'Hawkeye' video shown at the clubhouse later confirmed his decision was correct.
James Porter and crew Dale Staff, aboard High Priority, led for most of the race but faded in the later stages, leaving the door open for the Likely Lads, Steve Sargent and Callum Dingle, to take the day's top spot.
Robert and Bianca Libby, turned up the heat to finish a creditable second, with brothers David and Chris Jackman a close third. Tom Shaw continued to dominate the single-handed Laser class with a fine display of boat handling to once again take first spot from arch-rival Peter Greenwood.
After next Saturday's racing (July 18), the Buller Street clubhouse will be transformed for the evening Gala Party to celebrate the Sailing Club's 75th anniversary, to which all former and current members are invited.
