A bright new Callington Library will be open to the public again on Monday (April 18) following an 18-month project costing £250,000 to move its location and provide the latest facilities. The library now occupies a site that was formerly used as a dining area on the Callington Community College campus. It was moved from the old library established 33 years ago at the other end of the college grounds. The new library now offers full disabled access with automatic doors and separate rooms for IT use and other activities. The extra space means that the books can be displayed in more attractive fashion, and there is even a 'quick change' area for people in a hurry. There is also baby changing area, large conservatory where customers can read or enjoy a cup of coffee or other hot drink, and a public toilet. Public access to the library is now via the school gate in Coronation Road. Library manager Anique Skinner said she was 'absolutely amazed' at the transformation achieved through the new facilities. Callington Library opening times are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 9.30am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 5pm, and Tuesdays and Fridays 9.30am to noon and 2pm to 7pm. On Saturdays the library will be open from 9.30am to 12.30pm. More information on the services offered can be obtained by phoning (01579) 383236.
