I have never been against the Parade's redevelopment scheme, except for the use of "imported" granite and not Cornish, and was one of the first to acknowledge its success.
It's a pity those who planned the ornate-looking road didn't put a little more thought into the strength and workload it has to endure. The road now is in an atrocious condition and is in need of urgent attention.
The entire stretch of road needs relaying. As fitting as the present road is for the Parade's new appearance, the continual flow of heavy goods traffic still using the town is too great for such a road.
Let's hope the planners use their economic sense this time and not waste thousands more on something which is inapt.
