Letter of the week - Air Ambulance in need of a landing pad
Today, I witnessed a helicopter landing to pick up an injured woman. It had great difficulty in doing so, because it had to determine which holiday camp was Killigarth Manor.
Because several people from surrounding campsites were hailing the pilot, he was most probably delayed by precious minutes. An employee of Killigarth had the foresight to signal him to land on a nearby football field. From there, a paramedic climbed a hedge and rushed to the injured woman, who, it is believed, will make a full recovery.
Apparently, there are several camps in this vicinity and, horror of horrors, no landing pad.

Devon and Cornwall issued with multiple snow and ice warningsWhy? Because, I was told, the upkeep of an air ambulance was fully met by the people of Cornwall. What, no lottery grant?
I would love to see and hear of a massive effort by the people of Cornwall to achieve a very necessary commodity to be presented to these very highly-trained paramedics. They need it and the people of Cornwall deserve it.
So, with raffles, charity shops and various fundraising events. I'm sure this can - and deserves to- be a successful venture.
