Station Lane, Calstock, is a public right of way in a conservation area, and until recently sported a Cornish hedgerow with views across the Tamar Valley. Following planning permission for a property to replace another, this Cornish hedgerow has been demolished and retrospective planning requested for a two metre high concrete wall of approximately 115 metres in length. The view is completely blocked, and from being a pleasant country lane, the area now looks more like a town back alley. Calstock Parish Council have recommended refusal of this retrospective planning application, and over 100 letters of objection have been sent to Caradon by residents. The residents of Calstock now await Caradon's decision, but the fear is they (Caradon) will bottle out once again. This being the case, any person will feel that conservation rules (laws) have no meaning and they can build willy nilly themselves. I have not bothered to mention in detail what I believe to be other unapplied for building on the site in question, or the hassle caused to residents of Rowse Gardens which is adjacent to Station Lane.
