This cup encounter could not have started any more dramatically. Chillaton took the lead within the opening minute with a very well worked goal. But to their dismay St Dominic were on terms within the next minute. A deep right wing corner was missed by the keeper for Oliver Cradick to nod home at the far post.
This was a hectic half of football with both sides playing flowing attacking football, and both defences struggling to contain their opposition. St Dominic opened up a two goal advantage with both goals from Paul Keene. The first was well taken from six yards after good work by Craig Pote. The second was a tap in after the keeper had fumbled a Richard Woods free kick. But Chillaton finished the half stronger and pulled a goal back just before the break.
The second half was all one way as St Dominic turned up the heat in dramatic style. Their midfield were totally dominant as chances came from all angles. Neal Horsley scored a superb hatrick to make it 6-2. The first two were headers, one from a measured Darren Bradley cross, the second from a Paul Keene cross, his third was all his own work as he held off a defender and turned to shoot into the top corner. Craig Pote made it seven after a defensive slip and Paul Keene scored his third and St Dominic's eight with an easy tap in. The ninth was a superb chip by joint manager Richard Woods after good work again by Bradley.
This was a wonderful display of attacking football by St Dominic who played their best football of the season in the second half. Their approach play was slick and their finishing, especially by Paul Keene and Horsley was deadly. On this form they can be a match for anyone especially if they can tighten up at the back.
