Have you wondered what’s going through children’s minds as they adapt to life in the coronavirus pandemic?
Pupils in Landrake have been writing poetry about their experiences as they complete their schoolwork away from school.
Year 4 teacher at Sir Robert Geffery’s School, Richard Arundell, said: ‘My class have been really engaged with our online learning over the past few weeks.
‘I asked the children to create their own ‘Lockdown’ poems to reflect how they are feeling at this incredible moment in their lives. The results were great.’

The sunny days and the wetter days, I’ve not had better days.
I’ve enjoyed sports wearing shorts, had fun playing games of all sorts.
Birds flying all day long, the dawn chorus singing their song, and we have all been inspired by Captain Tom.
Painting horse jumps all day long. Having sand school fun.
We’ve all become green fingered. Let’s hope these habits linger.

People scared, people frightened, people worrying if they’re dying.... that’s not me, not at all.
My head’s in the clouds, not worrying about all the things I’ve heard and seen, about COVID-19,
Doesn’t have the same effect on me. I wonder what’s to happen next?
Out in the sun, having lots of fun, learning new talents and mastering none.
The spring breeze is going about, with leaves hopping in and out.
Flowers looking their very best, this is my time to rest.
Birds tweeting one by one, flying about as free as they come.
I’m not worrying, not at all, NHS and social care won’t let us fall.
Teachers continue to educate; these are the reasons I celebrate.
So no need to worry about it all; go have fun and play some ball.

Lockdown, lockdown, we have to stay at home.
Lockdown, lockdown, I’m missing all my friends.
Lockdown, lockdown, Facetime just isn’t the same.
Lockdown, lockdown, my home is now my classroom.
Lockdown, lockdown, my teacher is my mum.
Lockdown, lockdown, I never thought I’d say this but… I want to go to school!

I’m a bit fed up. I can’t see my friends going out once a day, and I can’t go to the cinema.
But I get to see Mum and Dad more often, and I can ride my bike everyday,
When the coronavirus has gone away, I am going to see granny and grandad, and go shopping to the mall with mum.
This way of living has shown me I must value my freedom; I will value my family and friends.

It’s hard staying inside all the time, it’s getting boring.
I’m fine but I need to see my friends; I have to imagine them. I hear from some but not all of them.
The more I think the more the virus spreads.
We need to stay home and stay safe.

I LOVE spending time with my family.
There’s so much to do with them like with an older brother you can do rocket science, or with an older sister you can do baking.
Your dad can help you ride a bike; or help mum with the chores,
Or a younger sibling you can play with them.,
If you have a pet you can play with them too.
Family, they love you – so love them too.
GRACIE
This is weird; not seeing my friends and family; not going to school.
But lockdown isn’t all that bad. The sun is shining, I’m riding my pony, I’m riding my bike, and there is no school.
When this is all over, I will ride my pony over the moors.
ERIN
Another day with no school. I thought it would be great – but it ain’t so cool.
But in that time I’ve been just fine. I’ve been busy doing lots with my spare time,
Bike riding, keep fit, art – these are the things I’ve had to start,
Lego, walking, playing games – I’ve been a bit worried that life won’t be the same.
I miss my family, I miss my friends, I will never take it for granted again.
