Looe Sailing Club brought forward the race start time of their latest event to accommodate the powerboating trial, which took place in the afternoon.
The fickle late summer winds suited Redwing helm Peter Kinver and his crew Helen Regan, as they sniffed out a private rock breeze to sail Red Herring to a nerve-tingling victory.
Richard Vasey, and crew Jake Gavin held second place throughout in the dying southwest light airs.
Third over the line was the now Godfather of the fleet Colin Crabb, and crew Richard Ham.
Meanwhile, in the Enterprise class, Team Libby (Robert and young daughter Amy) held on to a slender lead to take top spot over arch rivals Francis Marshall and crew Sally Greenwood.
Another veteran on the water was Graham Sargent, who crewed for son Steve to earn a wits ending third place.
