The founder of a project turning unwanted food into healthy, affordable meals has started an appeal to open a dedicated premises, as we reported earlier this week.
Jessica Sneyd, of Menheniot, started the Real Junk Food Project (RJFP) Plymouth in April.
Together with hard-working volunteers, she has run a series of pop-up lunches for families at Liskeard’s Scout Hut, as well as supporting one-off events in the town and wider area.
Up until now, the project has operated out of Jessica’s kitchen, but as demand grows, the time has come to move elsewhere.
‘Since April we have fed more than 3,000 meals to around 2,000 people and have rescued over five tonnes of food,’ she said.
The RJFP is now crowd-funding so it can move to a proper storage facility and kitchen.
