Saltash Youth U11s 8
Morley Rangers 0
IN a proverbial game of two halves, both sides belied their league positions in the first half.
Saltash looked far from unbeaten leaders and Morley looked very unlike a bottom placed side.
They gave a great account of themselves prompted by man-of-the-match Jasper and some superb goalkeeping, which denied Saltash an early lead and frustrated them for most of the first half.
To be fair, the standard of football played and the poor level of finishing did not warrant anything other than the 1-0 lead Saltash took into the break.
The goal came from captain Hanley, a fine, dipping strike from the edge of the area which came two minutes before referee Clive Rutter blew for half time.
After a quiet and reasoned talk the second period was an amazing turnaround as a 'new side' appeared to be on the pitch.
Both Haimes and Walton-Gould bagged themselves hat-tricks, Haimes' shighlight, a fine header from a well struck corner, and Walton-Gould's best a lovely mazy dribble tucked carefully away in the corner.
Another fine, trademark, free kick from Cross, which whizzed past the keeper, completed the 8-0 scoreline.
Morley would not give in though, and Saltash had reason to thank keeper Dent for a fine save midway through the half which helped them keep their fourth clean sheet of the season.
Team: Dent, Miles, Ticehurst, Olver, Haimes, Hanley, Stokes, Jones, Saxby, Walsh, Walton-Gould, Howells, Cross and Best.
This Saturday, Saltash are at home again to fourth placed AFC Southway, 1pm kick off.

Tavistock Thistles
1 Pensilva 1
PENSILVA Youth went to Tavistock on Saturday determined to improve on a performance which last week cost them the game against Lipson.
Youth started well but it was well into the first half before they were rewarded with a goal from Kane Wilson, who was playing his first match of the season.
Following the break Thistles had the best of the scoring opportunities but were denied on several occasions by the solid defence of Matt Trent, Ashley Flemming and Richard Day. However following a scramble in the box the ball finally trickled over the line just out of reach of the keeper.
Pensilva thought they had regained the lead when Joe Kennedy put the ball in the net but he was denied by an offside flag.
The effort put into this match by the whole team was much appreciated by manager Richard Bond and the team can look forward to their next game at home to Looe.
Opposition man of the match Joe Kennedy; Managers man of the match Matt Trent.

Looe 3
Tamarside 4
TAMARSIDE were the visitors to Looe on a lovely sunny afternoon and must have thought Christmas had come early as they went 3-0 up after 25 minutes.
Looe did have the sun in their eyes which made defending difficult, which Tamarside discovered in the second half.
Mark Taylor scored from the penalty spot just before the interval to bring Looe back into the game.
Manager Mick Crick had a few choice words to say as the boys tucked into their oranges.
The second half was dominated by Looe and after ten minutes of the restart Mark Taylor added to his tally.
With Looe on top the equaliser was not long in coming, Sam Grant the scorer. Chris Goldthorpe, Ian Stacey and James Barker all had chances to give Looe the lead before disaster struck.
Deep into injury time Tamarside broke away and a rash challenge from Kevin Ridges in the Looe goal gave the visitors a penalty, which was duly converted.
Looe gave 100 per cent effort and with a little bit of luck could have won this match comfortably.

Saltash Youth 1
St Cleer 3
ST CLEER travelled to Saltash to record their first win on a fine sunny afternoon.
Saints started brightly and soon took control of the game threatening Saltash's goal frequently. Reward came after a superb Steven Tapper through ball picked out Martyn Hake who coolly lobbed the approaching keeper to open his account.
Saints continued to press and with Ashley Newman, Craig Walton, Steven Tapper and Jamie Truscott in midfield playing some breathtaking football it wasn't long before Truscott released Hake again who finished well for Saints to take a 2-0 lead.
After half time Saltash came out to try to make amends but defensively the back line of Neal Davy, James Brown, Tom Clack and Bradley Powell held strong until a well taken free kick for Kelly reduced the arrears.
Within minutes of the restart Saints attacked again, and Craig Hamson restored the two-goal advantage for Saints who held out to the final whistle to gain three well deserved points.
Saints manager Andrew Tapper praised his players committed approach and hopes they can build on this performance for the rest of the season.
Managers man of the match went to Steve Tapper and the opponents man of the match went to Martyn Hake. There were also very good performances from Asho Newman, Bradley Powell and super sub Kurt Devaney.
• Saints next game is away to Frankfort at Estover Community College tomorrow (Sat, 2:30pm).
