Unlike last week's game at Penzance where the team were far too tight, this excursion to Truro saw the complete reverse. A lack of intensity against traditional old foes was only addressed at half time by which time Liskeard were 24-3 down. Injuries to Dave Hannah and Matt Blank before half time saw Liskeard borrow two Truro players. They were keen enough but cost Liskeard two tries.

The second half was a forward revelation. We all thought we knew how good the local pack was but in this half they reached new heights. Their commitment and power were astonishing. The Truro back division, talented as it is, cannot play without the ball, and they certainly did not see much of it, at least on their side, in this half. The halcyon days of the first half were over and it was backs to the wall defending. A strong wind and grave tactical error from Liskeard saved Truro. Hard graft from the pack and the wrong decision to give the ball out inevitably saw Truro tackle the inert Liskeard backs and kick the ball to safety.

For a colossal amount of effort the eight had a single try from No 8 Matt Twornicki. At least three more scores would have been a true reflection of the total domination enjoyed. It would be churlish to try to pick outstanding forwards but Adrian Blair, so often in the shadow of the soaring Mark Davy had a blinder in the middle of the line out, with due thanks to his supporters.

The least said about the back division with the honourable exception of Dave Hannah the better. Stuart Taylor kicked two superb penalties and a conversion.
