Ideas on tackling the climate change emergency were being discussed in Liskeard town centre this morning.
Cornwall Council has 10 initial ideas on actions it could take to help the country become carbon neutral by 2030.
These include installing solar panels on the Council’s many farms, helping residents to reduce their use of single-use plastics, and making sure that new build housing is as energy efficient as possible.
Cornwall Council’s leaders have been in various towns with the ‘Have Your Say’ boards asking people to say what measures they would prioritise - and to share any other ideas they might have.
‘One idea that I really liked today was about Easter eggs,’ said Councillor Sally Hawken, who was on The Parade.
‘The suggestion was that instead of giving chocolate eggs wrapped in plastic, we could give children a sapling to plant.’
Members of the public who took part in the discussion were given a packet of wildflower seeds to plant.
Having visited Callington, Looe and Fowey, the Council will be visiting Bude and Redruth on July 10 and St Blazey on July 11.
Anyone who hasn’t been able to take part in person can fill out a survey by visiting www.cornwall.gov.uk/climatechange
