Ten people lost their jobs and parents were left without their usual nursery care after a Liskeard business went into administration. Another 19 or 20 workers were also left facing an uncertain future after Manuscript Ltd, based at Moorswater in Liskeard, went into administration on Wednesday. Administrator Gareth Roberts, a partner with financial and business advisers Hurst, Morrison, Thomson, said the business was split into two distinct parts – the core business, which bills itself on the company website as 'one of the largest manufacturers of framed pictures and prints in Europe', and a children's nursery. He explained: 'I have taken steps to close the nursery but the core business continues to trade. 'I am very hopeful that I will secure the sale of the core business on a going-concern basis with the employees jobs secured.' As the Cornish Times went to press, Mr Roberts said a sale had not been completed but discussions were at an 'advanced stage'. He also confirmed that a local family had expressed an interest in resurrecting the nursery, although this was still at a very early stage. Ten part-time and full-time workers were made redundant at the nursery and parents were only told the closure news on Wednesday. Mr Roberts said the nursery workers had been shocked by the news but added that steps were being taken to try to ensure that there were no more job losses. He added that parents of children at the nursery had also been offered help to find childcare places in other local facilities.
