As the final whistle went at Treyew Road on Saturday, yet another piece of history was created in the short but eventful life of Callington. Ryan Daley's hat-trick of strikes gave Callington their first ever victory in the Jewson League.
Following two defeats and a draw in their first three games it was important for Town to get a victory under their belts but the preparation of Ian Southcott, Jon Hake and Brian Baker before the game were not helped by a series of players picking up injuries. Added to this the traffic which caused the bus being delayed and one player not arriving until 3.00 pm one could have been forgiven for thinking that the gods were not smiling on the Jewson new boys.
And things got worse for the visitors after only 16 minutes when Matt Moore gave City the lead. But three minutes later Daley squared the scores and on 34 minutes he gave Town the lead with a close range tap in.
The second period saw truro come back and they equalised on 73 minutes when Steve Wherry was on hand to slide the ball home after Town 'keeper Andy Brenton had failed to hold a Justin Miles free kick.
But, with time running out, it was Daley who had the last word for Callington with a late winner to send the visiting fans wild with delirium and kick start town's season.
