Liskeard, it seems just can't get the better of Tavistock. Having drawn at Langsford Park earlier this season theylost to the Devon club in the cup and although having the better of exchanges on Saturday had to settle for a point from a 1-1 scoreline.

James Gill, Mark Skirton from John Dawe's cross and Simon Parnell all threatened the visiting goal in the opening quarter hour.

Then in an amazing scramble around the Tavistock goal John Gosling twice came to the visitors rescue when clearing efforts from Mark Skirton off the line.

Gosling was well position again five minutes later when he cleared a dangerous cross shot from Dawe.

On 30 minutes it was Tavy's turn to provide danger but a brilliant reaction save from Mark Henwood saw a point blank Marcus Crocker header palmed away.

Although it was Andy Mead who was to remain the busier of the two keepers it was the visitors who broke the stalemate when Chris Scott broke down the right and picked out defender James Coles who ran to beat the exposed Henwood.

Defensively Liskeard gave little away in the second half with Nick Trevarthen and Paul Sowden solid throughout. Dean Tongue and Gill beavered away in the middle and it was from Gill's cross that teenager Simon Parnell headed Liskeard on terms in the 56th minute.

With the game finely balanced both sides had their moments in the closing minutes with Henwood again denying a visiting forward when all looked lost. Skirton didn't have the best of afternoon's with his finishing but right on time it took a superb save from Meads to deny the striker a merited goal.
