At 7 o'clock on Saturday evening as he sipped a well earned pint with players and supporters Callington manager Ian Southcott was still unable to believe how his side had thrown away a 2-0 lead against rivals Saltash.
A good sized crowd were treated to a game thanks to the hard work of the Callington back room staff who worked throughout the morning to get the ground playable after the torrential rain earlier in the day and they were rewarded when, after missing some gilt edged chances early on Town went ahead midway through the first half when Stuart Wakenshaw shot home from close range after Barry Ewence's initial header had been parried by Charles West in the Utd goal.
More chances came and went before Callington increased their lead 10 minutes before the break when Robbie Hawkins fired past West.
Whatever the Saltash manager said to his players at half time paid immediate dividends as within two minutes they halved the deficit when Mike Southgate forced the ball home after Steve Nute had failed to hold Matt Penry's initial shot.
With 65 mins gone Matthew Latham grabbed the equaliser forcing the ball across the line from close range.
Callington could have gone ahead and won the game with several good chances but were unable to and with three mins of injury time gone, Southcott headed in an Andy Green cross and the game was won and revenge gained by Saltash after Town had won 1-0 earlier in the season.
