After four successive defeats, Callington managers Ian Southcott and Jon Hake would have easily settled for a point before the match but their side, short on confidence, should have grabbed all three against an improving Holsworthy side who had to play the last 40 minutes without their keeper at Ginsters Marshfield Parc last Wednesday night.

Callington, playing in front of another encouraging crowd, had the better of the opening exchanges and took a deserved lead on 15 minutes through a pile driver from Gary Smith. But, as so often in recent weeks, the frigidity of the Town collective will was laid bare as they missed chances to put the game beyond the reach of their opponents.

With five minutes gone of the second half, Holsworthy were reduced to 10 men when their keeper Adrian Lamerton raced from his goal and denied a Kevin Russell shot with his hand a yard outside the box. The eagle eyed linesman spotted the hand and, after a brief consultation, the referee had no option but to issue the Red Card. From the resultant free kick, the ball was cleared and this only served to encourage the visitors who proceeded to dominate the final minutes and gained a deserved equaliser on 75 minutes when Neil Robertson headed home to give the teams a share of the points.
