THE Ministry of Defence has launched an investigation after a woman claimed a jet flew over her bungalow so low the vibrations shattered one of her conservatory windows.
Jennifer Osborne, of High View, Tremar, near Liskeard, said she was in her garden shed on Tuesday afternoon at around 2.30pm when a Royal Navy jet roared overhead.
'Usually you can hear them coming and you take no notice,' she said. 'But with this one there was no warning; it just came out of nowhere and the noise was horrendous. I really thought it was coming down on top of me.'
Mrs Osborne said other neighbours in their gardens told her it seemed to go very low right over the top of her bungalow, and one thought it was going to clip the top of their leylandii hedge.
'Everyone had a fright, including my two cats who ran indoors,' she said. 'I have got used to the jets and quite like to see them, but this time it was a very frightening experience.'
RNAS Culdrose has confirmed its Hawk jets were in the air around the time of the incident on regular war simultion excercises, and that the MoD in London is investigating the claims to identify whether any of its aircraft were responsible.
A spokesperson for RNAS Culdrose said they had 'no record of any low flying aircraft ever causing any structural damage'.
