Call the Midwife star Jenny Agutter, patron of the charity CHICKS which has a centre in Tywardreath, was the special guest at a screening of her film, The Eagle has Landed, at RAF St Mawgan.

The Eagle has Landed turns 40 this year, and also stars Michael Caine, Donald Sutherland and Robert Duvall. Many scenes were shot in Cornwall, in Charlestown, Rock and at RAF St Mawgan itself.

Jenny answered questions from the audience about the film and her other work since. Guests then enjoyed a buffet dinner, where they chatted with Jenny.

The event raised more than £2,500 for the charity, which provides countryside respite breaks for disadvantaged children at centres in Derbyshire, on Dartmoor and at Tywardreath.

RAF St Mawgan has been a huge supporter of CHICKS during the past year. The base has held a number of fundraising events and hosted the annual Christmas present wrap in December, when more than 250 people joined forces to wrap 2,400 presents sent to the children who came on a break during 2015.
