A liskeard athlete has written his name into the county's history books after clocking the quickest 800 metres time by any Cornish runner in the past 14 years, at the British Milers Club meeting, held at the Exeter Arena.
James Ansell, who is a partner in Liskeard News, a business based in the town, managed a time of one minute, 52.3 seconds – which puts him fifth in the all time Duchy rankings.
He is currently ranked 107th at that distance across the UK – which is is a remarkable achievement, given that James only took up athletics little more than three years ago.
