Tickets are now available for the Liskeard Lions annual pantomime, with two performances free for senior citizens.

This year they are staging a mash-up of two traditional tales – with the common theme of the big bad wolf.

Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Pigs will be staged at the Public Hall on January 28-30.

It is the 21st year of Lions members and supporters in Liskeard putting on a pantomime, with free tickets for pensioners on the Thursday and Friday to include pasty, cake and a cuppa.

Transport from Liskeard and district can be arranged by the Lions for senior citizens unable to get to the hall.

‘This year’s story is an amalgamation of two medieval tales with a common theme, a wolf,’ said a Lions spokesperson.

‘These old tales were made up to advise the young ladies of the time of the perils of not obeying their parents’ instructions – we don’t intend to offer any moral guidance to the audience, but we hope to provide enjoyable entertainment!’

Philip Stephens has constructed the set and taken on the role of musical director, while his wife Mel Stephens is directing the panto and taking an acting role.

Morwenna McGowan is the make-up artist for the production, and Ali Houghton and Martyn Humphries have made costumes.

Stacy Gingell is choreographing the dancers.

‘All the performances start at 7.30pm, with doors open at 6.30pm,’ said the spokesperson. ‘Tickets are available from the Liskeard and District Museum in Pike Street. We are grateful to all those who purchased Christmas raffle tickets from the Lions, as this enables us to put on the pantomime.’
