The problem of flooding in Tanhouse Road and Queen Street was one of the topics discussed at this month's meeting of Lostwithiel town council.
Members heard that one particular house has been flooded so many times it is in danger of being uninsurable. A meeting had taken place with Cornwall county council, the result of which being that a ramp will be built to divert flood water away from the property. Longer term plans will be needed, however, to improve the situation fully.
The necessary part for the repair of the town clock is now ready, but unfortunately the repairer has suffered a bereavement. The meeting was told the task will be completed as soon as possible.
Fowey River Lions have requested permission to use King George V playing field for their May Country Fair on May 3. This has been given, with the proviso that no dogs are permitted on to the field.
Permission was also sought by Lostwithiel Rotary club for use of the field during carnival from July 18-27 - also for a duck race, a street party in Monmouth Square and a choir concert on town quay. Permission was granted for all events.
