Residents of rural parishes in South East Cornwall are being asked if their broadband is up to speed.
Some parts of Lansallos and Lanteglos parishes, near Looe, suffer from very slow broadband speeds, which Cornwall Councillor Edwina Hannaford says is affecting many people from students to those running small businesses.
Now Cllr Hannaford is asking residents to supply data for a survey, so that she can press BT to upgrade their service.
Cornwall Council is using European and Growth Fund monies to bridge the broadband equality gap. The local authority is setting up a fund to help communities access broadband by alternative means, such as satellite technology.
However, this scheme is not due to launch for another year, says Cllr Hannaford.
She said: ‘While I am still lobbying BT to provide a better service in more rural areas, it will help the campaign if I can provide some firm evidence of the difficulties the community faces and provide data to support better provision.’
