AN exhibition celebrating inspirational men past and present is running until the end of Saturday.

‘Men of Looe’ at the Old Sardine Factory in West Looe contains stories and photographs of some of the town’s well known and lesser known heroes.

The show follows on from a successful Women of Looe exhibition earlier in the year.

Among the characters nominated to feature are Ben Menhennick, who made ships in bottles from his hut on east Looe Quay in the 1940s and 50s, and Arthur Fletcher, a fisherman and Royal Navy Reservist who was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for bravery during action aboard HMS Carmania in the First World War.

Modern-day men put forward to appear in the exhibition include chef Ben Palmer, whose restaurant has been awarded the Michelin Bob Gourmand award, and former Looe mayor Armand Toms, described by many in the town as a ‘100% top man’ for his long-standing dedication to the town.
