Around 1,000 people gathered on Minions moor this week to commemorate the centenary of one of Cornwall's historic mines.
The Phoenix United mine was opened by the Prince and Princess of Wales on June 10, 1909.
On Wednesday, more than 150 schoolchildren from around the area were given a guided tour on the moor of the various mines and learnt how steam pumping engines worked.
A replica of The Puffing Devil steam engine, the first self-powered vehicle in the world, invented by Richard Trevithick in the 1800s, ran through Minions village all day. The evening events started with a barbecue and music on the moor and finished with Houseman's engine house being lit up at around 9.30pm.
Iain Rowe, who organised many of the events for Phoenix 100, said: 'It was a really successful day and everyone had a really good time.
'It was a great effort by everyone who got involved, and thanks must go to the town and parish councils and the community.'
The Sterts theatre had its opening night of the mining play, Gonemena, on Wednesday, to mark the centenary. The play will be performed on different dates throughout June and July.
