A Liskeard husband and wife have each been given the status of Honoured Burgess of the town.
Owen and Jean Hoskin have given service ‘above and beyond the call of duty’, said mayor Christina Whitty.
Jean has served for 50 years as part of Liskeard’s Cancer Research Committee, 15 of those as chairman.
Owen has been recognised first and foremost for his work with the Liskeard and District Agricultural Association across the decades.
Cllr Whitty said: ‘There are a great number of people in Liskeard who will know Jean and Owen through the organisations they work with, but some will also remember them from when they had the market garden stall in the Cattle Market, which Jean’s great-grandfather and then grandfather ran before them.’
