AN 11-year-old boy who won a national singing contest is to celebrate his victory by performing in his home town tomorrow.

Tom Skelton, who has cystic fibrosis, an inherited condition caused by a faulty gene, won a battle of the bands competition run for children and young people by the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

His dad sent in a video of him playing an Ed Sheeran cover which won more than 300 public votes.

To celebrate, Tom will be performing on Friday, July 21, at 7pm at the Saltash Social Club in the town’s Fore Street. This will be his very first gig and he will be supported by local band Blackbird.

A number of organisations, including the Eden Project, have come together to donate prizes to a raffle which include pamper days, a  hamper and days out.

All proceeds will be split evenly between the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Tom’s local Cystic Fibrosis team. Tom said he is very excited about the event and hopes that loads of people will come out to see him play.

All are welcome to the event but under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.
