An appeal has been launched to find a grade II listed milepost which has disappeared.

The whitewashed milepost normally stands on the roadside leaving East Taphouse towards Lostwithiel on the A390.

A milepost was first put there to mark the route from West Taphouse to Cremyll which became a turnpike road in around 1760.

Made of cast iron, the post stands at 76cm high and has black lettering which shows Liskeard as five-and-a-half miles away and ‘Lostwith’ as six miles away.

Anyone who has knowledge of the whereabouts of the milepost is asked to email the information to Brian Oldham of Liskeard Walkers are Welcome at: [email protected]
