A man has been praised for the ‘heroic’ restoration of a relic from the 18th century.

George Hadley has made major repairs to a limekiln, bringing it back to its former glory.

The kiln at Shallowpool, beside the West Looe River near Pelynt, was working from the 1780s or perhaps earlier, said local historian Carole Vivian.

To mark his effort, George has been given a heritage commendation by the Cornish Buildings Group.
