ANOTHER ten disadvantaged children will be able to enjoy some respite this year thanks to a donation to a children’s charity with a centre in South East Cornwall.
CHICKS provides free, five-day breaks in the countryside and by the sea for disadvantaged children from across the UK. One of its centres is at Tywardreath.
The children CHICKS support come from a variety of backgrounds; many are living in poverty or are young carers, while others have been the victim of abuse or neglect.
The West Cornwall Youth Trust has supported CHICKS for a number of years and has awarded the charity with another grant in 2018 which will fund respite breaks for 10 disadvantaged children from the West Cornwall area.
Kirstyn Daniel of CHICKS, said: ‘We are incredibly grateful to the West Cornwall Youth Trust for all of their support.
‘Thanks to their generous donation, 10 children from West Cornwall will be able to enjoy a week of fun, laughter and excitement, where they can build confidence and realise their potential.
‘CHICKS receives no government funding, therefore we rely solely on donations to keep providing our essential respite breaks. I’d like to say a huge thank you to the West Cornwall Youth Trust for helping to make this possible.’
