Heavy snow is falling across parts of South East Cornwall this afternoon and Police advice remains to avoid travel unless absolutely unnecessary.

An amber warning for snow remains in place across Cornwall until 9pm.

Ice is likely to become a problem overnight, say forecasters, with a yellow ’be prepared’ warning in place.

There may be further heavy snow showers tomorrow, according to the Met Office.

Cornwall Council have said staff will be working to treat major routes throughout the county.Contractors Cormac said on social media: 'Gritters have been out again since midday. Reports of heavier snow coming in from the south east which will work its way across the county. All partners working hard to keep people safe. Please listen to warnings and avoid non-essential travel in snow and ice.'
