Safer Cornwall has published advice and tips for anyone concerned about drinking habits during the lockdown.
There’s a handy app that can help you keep track of what you’re drinking and the link is here. https://drinksmeter.com
Isolation, anxiety over the pandemic, or boredom can lead to drinking ’creeping up too easily’ says Safer Cornwall.
They’ve published some tips to help us distract ourselves in healthier ways -
- Don’t watch the news obsessively, keep yourself up to date just a couple of times a day and follow all the instructions given exactly
- Find a way to talk to someone - aim for physical isolation with social connection.
Phone calls and video calls are good ways to keep in touch
- Get creative - try a new interest or rediscover an old hobby
- Watch or listen to something uplifting or funny
- Regularly focus your mind AWAY from the things you can’t control, back to the things you can do to help yourself or other people around you. Make plans to do some of those things!
- Take up regular exercise at a level slightly easier than your limits (a sprained ankle or a trip to A+E is not what you need right now!)
- Keep a good sleep routine
- Monitor your own sensible drinking using the drinksmeter app https://drinksmeter.com
