Health bosses have moved to assure people that they will be consulted over any changes to be made to hospitals in Cornwall, writes Richard Whitehouse, local democracy reporter.
NHS Kernow CCG gave the pledge ahead of a meeting of its governing body this week where a petition is set to be presented against the closure of hospitals in Cornwall.
The St Austell and Newquay Labour Group will hand over the petition which has 510 signatures to NHS Kernow tomorrow (Tuesday).
It concerns the possibility of Minor Injury Units (MIUs) being closed across Cornwall to make way for Urgent Treatment Centres (UTCs).
There have been suggestions that many of the county’s community hospitals and MIUs could be under threat.
However, while the CCG has said that it is considering upgrading some MIUs to UTC status it has not said that there are plans to close any.
