Living Streets (www.livingstreets.org.uk) launches National Walking Month this month, encouraging us all to incorporate a 20-minute walk into our day.
Closer to home, the weekly walks taking place in the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are growing in popularity.
Charlotte Dancer, of the Tamar Valley AONB team, said: ’With no charge and no need to book, simply choose from a Monday, Wednesday or Thursday morning, and join in! The programmes are easily accessible from www.tamarvalley.org.uk, click on Explore and Walking, or call the AONB team on 01822 835030.’
The AONB team is also seeking volunteers to join their’ Walking for Health’ team to lead or assist with walks, develop new routes and provide office support. Full training and support is provided. The next training day will be held in Truro. Please call 01822 835030 if you are interested in attending.
If you’d like more of a challenge, there’s still time to sign up to this year’s Discovery Trail Challenge – approximately 15 miles along the Cornish side of the AONB’s long-distance route, on Saturday, July 2.
Join as an individual, with a friend or as part of a team, and help to raise funds for CHICKS, the national children’s charity providing free respite breaks for disadvantaged children.
Call 01822 835030 or email [email protected] for further details.
