A REFORMED support group for Lymphoma patients, their families and carers across Cornwall and beyond – Lymphoma Support Group Cornwall – has been launched.

Formerly known as Lymphoma Action Support Truro, the group has now relaunched as an independent, volunteer-led network. Its aim is to provide a safe environment to discuss matters relating to Lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. The group shares knowledge and experience and its members provide support to one another.

It often arranges discussions with specialist guest speakers who provide up-to-date information on treatment, research, and other relevant issues.

Recently appointed group Chairman and former Chief Fire Officer of Cornwall Fire Brigade, Mick Howell, who is himself living with Follicular Lymphoma, explained: “Not everyone wants to talk openly about their situation and that’s fine. We have members who prefer to listen and others who are happy sharing their experiences openly.

“Everyone gets something different out of our meetings and discussions. Due to the pandemic, we are currently meeting via Zoom/Teams on the third Wednesday of each month from 6pm to 7.30pm. The next meeting is on March 17.

Lymphoma Support Group Cornwall welcomes new members at any time and hopes to grow its network to support more and more of those living with, or affected by, Lymphoma. If you feel you might benefit, you can find their group on Facebook4 and request to join. If you don’t have Facebook, the group also stays in touch via regular emails.
