A Polbathic care home has been rated as ‘good’ after an unannounced visit by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) following up some concerns.

The Roseacre Care Home, which predominantly supports older people with dementia, was previously inspected in November 2015 and received a ‘good’ rating at that time.

Since then, however, concerns were raised over the safety of two residents at the home, as well as in regard to staffing levels and other aspects of the care of residents.

The CQC carried out its most recent inspection on July 22 in response to these concerns, focusing solely on the question of whether the service provided was safe.

The visit was carried out at 7am by two inspectors, says the CQC, which concluded that the home was continuing to provide a safe service to its residents.

One of Roseacre’s two directors, Steve Bellerby, said Roseacre has a good reputation locally. He said: ‘Our service received an unannounced inspection last November where the CQC rated us as “good”. The service was inspected again in July and the outcome was the same. The home is currently at full capacity with a waiting list, which has to suggest the care at Roseacre remains at a consistently high standard.’
