Royal Cornwall Hospital is warning of long waiting times in its A and E Department this half-term and is advising patients to consider carefully which NHS service they use.

If it’s not urgent and you’re not sure where to go, call 111. Minor Injury Units, located across the county, may be a quicker alternative. See the website for opening and up-to-the minute waiting times. https://www.royalcornwall.nhs.uk/services/urgent-emergency-care/minor-injury-wait-times/

Emergency Department consultant Dr Andy Virr added: ’We’ve had really high demand over the past few days, the hospital is very full with patients, we are really, really stretched with bed on the wards. That means patients are backed up waiting for beds, we are struggling with space to see the new patients coming through the door.’
