FIVE packs of Saltash Brownies met at Saltash Community School on Saturday afternoon for a workshop and party to celebrate the 90 years that the Brownies have been established. As part of the Girl Guide Movement they began their history as 'Rosebuds', but they did not like the name so Lord Baden Powell, responsible for starting the Scout movement, changed it shortly afterwards to become 'Brownies'. On Saturday, the workshops gave brownies the chance to experiment with balloon modelling as well as making spinners. Then they took part in a circus workshop where they tried spinning plates on sticks, using roller wheels and various other activities. Everyone enjoyed a magic show while the special birthday cake was cut by District Commissioner Pauline Green with some of the Brownies.
