Supporting Mental Health In a Liberating Environment (SMILEZone) is a new support group , which was launched at Torpoint Council Chambers. Its aim is to break down the stigma associated with mental health illness and provide a safe, informative environment for people who may be suffering. The open day launch saw staff from the early intervention service helping people aged from 14-35 that are experiencing psychosis. Part of the NHS, the team has a psychiatrist, occupational therapists, support workers and a vocational worker funded by Comic Relief. The health promotion service (NHS) was on hand with health trainers to give advice on improving health and wellbeing. Information on Cornwall Mental Health Forums was available as was Noeline Garnett a holistic practitioner. Voluntary organisations were there including Crossline, a Christian caring service in the community and members of Liskeard Citizens Advice Bureau who were on hand to give a wide variety of financial advice.
