A GROUP of young people from Callington took part in the British Heart Foundation's 5km race at Saltram House, Plymouth, and raised £700 for the charity. The group, made up of 14 young people aged 11 -27, raised the money with contributions from friends, family and local businesses in Callington, including donations from staff at Ginsters, Gists insurance brokers, Spar, Cornwall Tyre Repair, Kelly Bray, The Body Shop, Kelly Bray, and John Smith Tyres. One of the group members, Matthew Hobbs from Callington, had a heart valve replacement two years ago and ran himself, completing the 5km course twice in just under an hour. The youngest runner of the group was Katie Lewis from Delaware, who was the first girl out of the group to complete the race. Jemma Floyd, who also took part in the event, said: 'We all enjoyed the day and are very pleased to donate a large sum of money to the British Heart Foundation.'
