AT the October meeting of Lansallos Parish Council, councillors were given an update on various transport issues by Derek Potts, transport representative. The new Lisk-Link service has just started to include Polperro, the scheme being the latest idea in 'demand responsive' public transport. Anyone can use the service by calling 08456 017375 at least one hour before wishing to travel to guarantee a pick up.The operator has confirmed that they will collect passengers from areas like Brent or Carey Park and journeys through to places such as Trago Mills, Seaton and Liskeard could be made without the need to change buses. Normal fares are charged and Cornish Key Cards can be used by the disabled and senior citizens to obtain the usual half price reduction. The service operates between 7am-7pm on Mondays to Fridays. Cllrs were also pleased to hear that the bus service to Plymouth from Polperro operated by First Devon and Cornwall Bus Company will be continuing with improved services 80A and 81A between Polperro, Killigarth, Looe and Plymouth. Chairman Cllr Murray Collings, welcomed the enhancements and said: 'They will aid the sustainability of our community and improve access for those using public transport throughout the area.' Cllr Bryant said the Lisk-Link service would be most welcome for residents of Carey and Brent who currently are faced with a long walk to the nearest bus stop. 'We must endeavour to maximise the publicity for the service throughout the village,' she said.
