STAFF members from Samworth Brothers sites in Cornwall are set to compete against each other in a gruelling 12-hour challenge. Sixteen team members from Ginsters, Samworth Brothers Distribution and Tamar Foods in Callington are taking part in the event, where they will face teams from other Samworth Brothers companies, customers and suppliers. The challenge will involve mountain biking, canoeing and hill scrambling in the Lake District and 150 people are expected to take part. The Wild South-Westerners of Ginsters, made up of Samantha Brown, Steve Smeeth, Nicky Taylor and Phil Clark, have already raised more than £1,000 for their chosen charity – Mustard Tree Macmillan Cancer Support Centre. This charity is close to the company as a number of Ginsters staff have battled with cancer in the past. The event, which is to be held tomorrow, takes place around Ullswater in the Lake District and will see teams cycle 32km, canoe 10km and trek 13km via the third highest peak in Britain, Helvellyn. Winners of the task will receive £1,000 for their chosen charity.
