Liskeard Lions have been raising funds for their annual panto which they perform free of charge for senior citizens of the town and district.

Lending a helping hand was Santa himself, who spent a day at the Morrisons store just before Christmas greeting customers and collecting donations.

This year’s production is King Arthur and it will be performed at the Public Hall on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, January 26, 27 and 28.

The first two evenings are free of charge to all senior citizens, who are also given a pasty and cake supper in the interval.

If there are seats available on these nights, they can be bought a week before the performances by the public.

The Saturday night is open to all and everyone pays. Adult tickets are £7 and children £5.

As usual the Lions will be organising transport for senior citizens who require it, which includes those in residential homes.

They are asked to contact Lion Mike Higman on 01579 320417.

All senior citizens wanting to go, other than those using Lions’ transport who automatically have their seats allocated, are asked to register at Liskeard Tourist Information Office in Pike Street, which is also the event’s ticket office.
