Two well-known South East Cornwall gardens are opening especially to raise money for Cornwall Hospice Care.

Ken Caro gardens at St Ive will be opening this Sunday, May 7, and the following Saturday, May 13, from 2pm to 5pm.

And the gardens at Tregrehan House, Par, are open this Sunday, May 7, from 1pm to 5pm.

The 10-acre Ken Caro is the creation of Caroline Willcock and her husband Kenneth, a garden enthusiast and horticultural columnist.

It’s set high above Bicton Manor Woods with countryside views.

Tregrehan is tucked into St Austell Bay and is famous as Cornwall’s own ‘rain forest’.

Sarah Newton, community fundraiser for Cornwall Hospice Care, said: ‘Since its inception six years ago the open gardens scheme has raised £48,000 for the charity, and we are very grateful to all the garden owners, past and present, who are helping to raise much-needed funds for us.

Cornwall garden celebrity, and Cornwall Hospice Care’s open gardens ambassador George Kestell, said: ‘It’s a wonderful opportunity to see some lovely gardens and to be inspired by the original and innovative designs and planting schemes.’
